Aiways has entered into a strategic partnership agreement with Hesai Technology to collaboratively build the future of autonomous driving.
FREMONT, CA: Aiways and Hesai Technology, the world's biggest manufacturer of LiDAR (3D lasers), have signed a strategic partnership agreement to collaboratively build the future of autonomous driving. The new collaboration is part of Aiways plan to transform into a digitally-driven automotive intelligent technology firm by 2022.
With the support of Hesais' new generation of automotive-grade LiDAR technology, Aiways will advance its autonomous driving capabilities. As a result, the AI-Drve intelligent driving technology will be accessible on the new Aiways U6, which will launch in Europe in early 2022. AI-Drve is centered on improved Aiways systems, including Super Cruise Control (SCC) and Lane Keeping System (LKS). The company will also implement a navigation system for the first time in its vehicles, fitted with High-speed Navigation Assistance (NGA), in response to consumer demand. The intelligent driving system will also feature Aiways innovative Narrow-road Assist Function (NRP), a function often reserved for premium brands.
Both parties have long-term ambitions to work together to expand automotive intelligent driving systems with technological improvements that make autonomous driving more precise, safe, and efficient. Aiways will benefit from high-performance automotive-grade LiDAR solutions, such as LiDAR hardware, self-learning algorithms, and calibration, resulting from the partnership. It will also speed up the company's next move toward a future of partially autonomous driving.
Li Yifan, CEO of Hesai Technology, says: "This collaboration will help lead the breakthrough of a new generation of smart cars. Our expertise paired with Aiways ambition is an ideal partnership to progress autonomous driving technologies."
Xiaoying Gu, Chief Operating Officer of Aiways, says: "As the electric vehicle industry continues to grow, it is more important than ever to ensure our EVs are equipped with the latest technology. This cooperation with Hesai Technology will help us to jointly develop autonomous driving solutions, and we look forward to working with them to evolve the technology over the coming years."
