The funding of DSD is expected to enhance the growth in the areas of Electrified powertrain development and enhance the customer relationship platform.
FREMONT, CA: Drive System Design (DSD), an engineering consultancy enterprise, specializing in the design, development, and the control of transmission, and future driveline systems, has announced that the company will be investing more than $2.0million in a new facility for meeting electrified powertrain development demands.
The funding focuses on the enhancement and growth of DSD in new Farmington Hills, Michigan. The company, with this investment, aims at developing electrified power train DSD also wishes to improve test and development capabilities. The ability of the clients to provide schemes from concept up to vehicle prototype stage will also be offered.
Along with this development, the company has appointed Matt Hole as VP of North America. Hole has been promoted to the position from European parent company Drive System Design.
With the appointment of the new VP, DSD will also be working with the State of Michigan for the expansion of the company's influence globally by posting 25 skilled engineering staff in the coming years. This promise of enhancement led the company to receive the $175,000 performance-based grant from the Michigan Business Development Program.
The investment will also ensure offering of the new facility support to the world, which is hydraulic system development and loaded testing. DSD is presently deploying a 3E rig and has recently installed a battery emulator. The battery emulator will work only for electric and hybrid vehicle development and hardware in the loop (HIL) testing.
The company has also developed driveline test equipment, which includes a transmission efficiency test rig. This equipment is suitable for all transmission types that include engine accessory drives, like superchargers and CVT drives.
Customer demand for electrification saw rapid growth. This will result in more manufacturers outsourcing work, which will ensure that the product reaches the market soon.
