The Enteligent charger eliminates inefficient DC-to-AC conversion, reducing energy consumption and costs.
FREMONT, CA: “Rapid growth in EV ownership and usage and the resulting demand for energy are putting increased pressure on an already stretched electricity grid," says Sean Burke, founder, and CEO of Enteligent. Enteligent, a developer of solar power optimization and electric vehicle (EV) solar charging technologies that deliver more of the clean solar energy users generate and drastically reduce costs, will unveil the world's first DC-to-DC solar hybrid bi-directional EV charger at Intersolar NA 2023 in Booth 2460 this week. The solar EV charger from Enteligents can provide 25 kW of fast DC charging, three times quicker than AC Level 2 EV chargers, while simultaneously supporting vehicle-to-home (V2H) and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) household energy resilience and offering substantial energy savings.
“This first-of-its-kind technology will benefit consumers by enabling them to shift from night-time charging, which is dependent on the fossil-fuel powered grid, to clean, solar-based, daytime charging,” adds Burke.
Presently, electric vehicle (EV) owners connect their vehicles to home chargers powered by an alternating current (AC) flow of electricity generated by the electric grid. Nevertheless, EV batteries operate on direct current (DC), necessitating a conversion from alternating current (AC) to DC during the charging process. This conversion could be more efficient, resulting in high energy loss and an extended charging time.
By removing the AC-to-DC conversion, EV chargers from Enteligents enable consumers to maximize every kilowatt of valuable, clean energy, saving up to 25 percent. And direct DC charging bypasses the EV's internal conversion circuits, drastically reducing charging time.
BloombergNEF predicts that by the end of this decade, 52 percent of the global automobile market will consist of electric vehicles. Nowadays, most electric vehicles are charged overnight by a grid powered by fossil fuels. With the drastically increasing number of EVs plugged in overnight and the quickly expanding array of household electronics we rely on daily, the grid's ability to reliably satisfy energy demand will be strained.
Solar EV chargers from Enteligent make it easy and economical to charge during the day, directly from on-site solar generation, enabling a fundamental shift in energy consumption patterns that utilize solar electricity when it is locally generated and readily accessible.
