Fremont, CA: RoboTire, a Detroit-based robotics and automation business, achieved a critical milestone in its attempts to transform the tire replacement industry: the Fountain Hills, Arizona, Discount Tire store is now the first in North America to install and operate a RoboTire tire changing system. Discount Tire, a large independent retailer of tires and wheels with over 1,100 locations in the United States, is implementing the RoboTire technology as one of several changes to its stores meant to improve customer safety and happiness.
The fourth version of RoboTire's tire-changing device got installed at the Discount Tire store. Machine learning, artificial intelligence, proprietary software, high-definition cameras, and advanced robotics are helpful by RoboTire systems, which are made in the United States, and can change four tires on a passenger vehicle in less than 25 minutes. RoboTire is simple to incorporate into tire shop operations and offers operator training to current tire professionals at service centers. RoboTire systems would remove, lift, and install tire and wheel assemblies at Discount Tire, reducing technician injuries caused by repetitive heavy lifting. The devices will get operated by Discount Tire professional technicians, who will also provide tire pressure monitoring and balancing services as needed.
Victor Darolfi, RoboTire founder and chief executive officer, said, "Discount Tire has been a proven leader in the tire and wheel industry for more than 60 years. We are excited to expand our partnership with them to enhance safety and efficiency in their stores and help increase the number of customers that can be serviced on any given day. RoboTire's systems will drastically change how tire stores and service centers like Discount Tire approach changing tires, employee and vehicle safety, and customer satisfaction."
Discount Tire is a shareholder in RoboTire, which completed its Series A round in late 2021. RoboTire is expanding production at its Plymouth, Michigan, headquarters and will scale system distribution across North America in the coming months.
