With the TurboConnectwallbox, the automotive supplier continues to broaden its EV supply equipment product portfolio.
FREMONT, CA: “We are really excited about taking this next step into the future of electrification and demonstrating that we are an ideal partner for addressing the needs of electromobility,” says Michael Bauer, Executive Vice President, Webasto Charging Systems. Webasto Charging Systems, a subsidiary of Webasto Group, introduced two new wallboxes to its EV charging product family today at the EV Charging Infrastructure USA Conference in Anaheim, California, and the EV Charging Summit and Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada: the fully connected TurboConnectTM charger, featuring seamless integration into the WebastoChargeConnect Cloud, and the next generation TurboDXTM 2.0 Plug-In charger.
“Every battery needs to be charged, and the TurboConnect and TurboDX 2.0 Plug-In wallboxes offer a high-quality, high-performance solution for workplaces, fleets, dealerships, and other public or private lots,” adds Bauer.
The durable and dependable TurboConnect and TurboDX 2.0 Plug-In chargers are built and manufactured to withstand any environment while keeping consumers safe. Certified by worldwide standardizing authorities such as Underwriter Laboratories (UL) and Electrical Testing Laboratories (ETL), Level 2 EV chargers suit home and commercial enterprise applications such as fleet, workplace, and destination charging. In addition, both chargers are available for purchase from corporate and automotive partners, with a later release for end users.
The TurboConnect Level 2 charger inaugurates a new age of electrification. With Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and ethernet connectivity choices and OCPP 1.6J compatibility, the charger improves the user experience while adhering to the most stringent cybersecurity requirements with an integrated Trusted Module Platform. (TMP). The WebastoTurboConnect has been subjected to stringent internal validation evaluations, including penetration testing and threat analysis, to protect the confidentiality of data. Additional OTA software updates protect against zero-day vulnerabilities.
Depending on the vehicle, the Energy Star-rated wallbox may charge up to 11.5kW at 240V with a maximum output of 48A, adding up to 50 miles of range each hour. This ETL-approved charger prioritizes safety through its continuous monitoring of ground, current, and voltage and its leakage, thermal, and auto-restart/recovery functions. The TurboConnect charger also offers cost-effective multi-system applications via capacity-based charging, sometimes called load balancing, and features a range of interfaces that allow it to connect easily to energy management systems and deliver optimum photovoltaic excess charging. This makes it suitable for both private and public charging.
Webasto Digital Solutions, the ideal complement to the WebastoTurboConnectcharger, gives EV charging administrators and end users full control over the charging experience. Utilizing the WebastoChargeConnect Cloud, charging providers may provide demand-optimized, efficient charging. The WebastoChargeConnect Dashboard provides easy access to manage complex multi-charging sessions, check device status, retrieve charging history, and control energy consumption, among other features.
The app is currently available for download from the app store and can easily integrate with existing WebastoChargeConnect Cloud services, enabling payments, data collecting, and analysis.
WebastoChargeConnect and WebastoTurboConnect are optimal for an exceptional and streamlined charging experience.
The second edition of the WebastoTurboDX 2.0 Plug-In reduces installation time and expenses for residential and private parking lots. Designed to emphasize cost-effectiveness and rapid deployment, this wallbox offers a trustworthy, dependable, and efficient EV charging option. The TurboDX 2.0 Plug-In charger easily plugs into a NEMA 14-50 outlet and requires no complicated setup or updates. The sleek and sturdy metal shell provides various mounting choices, such as inside and exterior walls and posts, and can accommodate up to four devices per pole. Additionally, it is built to survive the roughest circumstances and operate in the highest temperatures.
The WebastoTurboDX 2.0 Plug-In charger produces 7.7kW of charging power at 240V, which, depending on the car, can add up to 27 miles per hour. This wallbox offers safe and dependable charging every time with future-proof safety features such as an integrated ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) and a temperature sensor on the NEMA 14-50 socket to protect clients and their property from electrical hazards.
The TurboConnect charger, the WebastoChargeConnect digital solution, and the TurboDX 2.0 Plug-In wallbox will be introduced at the 2023 EV Charging Infrastructure USA Conference and showcased at the Las Vegas EV Charging Summit & Expo. Attendees will have the opportunity to speak with product specialists, witness a Webasto presentation on the significance of industry standards, and learn more about Webasto's EV product line.
