Morten von Krogh, CEO Fleet operators today face a major challenge in handling the current technology leaps within the automotive industry. Subsequently, the gap between older and new cars is growing rapidly. Multi-brand fleet owners have handled similar changes over the years, but never with differences as large as we currently see and expect for the next five to ten years to come. That’s where Move About can help. By facilitating the transition for its customers from fossil cars to truly sustainable transportation in shared electric vehicles (EVs), Move About bridges this technology gap. “We have built-in the experience of more than ten years from commercial EV car sharing operation into the platform—supporting new users using new cars. This facilitates a smooth introduction of modern EV’s into an existing fleet,” says Morten von Krogh, the CEO of Move About Group.
A Vast Array of Shared EVs
At its core, Move About offers an eMobility services platform built on a fleet of shared EVs and is complemented by shared electric bikes, taxis, and rental cars. It has a multi-channel architecture, enabling the users to plan their trips in the app they prefer—as part of ordering a train ticked or planning a meeting, in a tenant app supplied by the landlord or Move About's app tailored for an efficient booking, usage and payment of corporate trips as well as private ones—all using the same cars. “Our mobility services platform supports multi-brand fleets of shared electric cars. The result is seen in the multi-vendor vehicle connectivity module, in the fleet optimisation algorithms used to select the most suitable car based on current availability and range, and in the front-end supporting first-time drivers through their EV experience,” adds Bent Andre Fossum, CFO, Move About.
Currently, Move About serves the needs of corporate clients to ease work-related transportation issues. Move About enables clients to handle their employees' trips in one single invoice mapped to individuals or projects. At the same time, it allows their employees to use a single app to get to their destination with the best available means of transport, regardless if it’s a company car, a taxi or riding with a colleague. The company helps clients create cost savings by replacing costly taxi trips, oversized corporate fleets and the burden of handling travel expenses with a flexible solution that will deliver the most effective trip options every time. The company enables clients to use highly utilised electric cars, which are cheaper than conventional corporate cars, taxis or reimbursement of private car usage. Similarly, clients no longer need the same number of parking lots as each shared car replaces up to ten conventional cars. In addition, with Move About, clients get all the benefits of electro-mobility without the burden of early adopter costs. And efficient transport means less environmental impact.
What’s more, Move About empowers clients to create a high profile in the market by showing their customers that they care for the environment and employees as much as them with an exclusive fleet of shared cars, striped with their branding.

Our mobility services platform supports multi-brand fleets of shared electric cars
Promoting a Sustainable Transportation Model
One of Move About’s oldest customers is the regional public safety authority of Western Sweden who equipped their fleet used for non-critical trips in 2008. The company has recently supported the client to phase in the first full-electric cars in their fleet. Further, Move About has recently entered into a partnership with Avis to deliver mobility-on-demand under the Zipcar brand based on its platform in its Scandinavian home markets. "As part of the cooperation, Zipcar customers also get easy access to our fleet of electric cars, enabling them an easy and natural way to take the first step towards truly sustainable transportation – in an EV!" mentions Morten Torp, Director Smart Mobility, Move About.
What differentiates Move About is its solid technology platform that makes car-sharing easy, efficient, and user-friendly, also with pure-electric cars. Additionally, the company is at the forefront to rolling out modern (and popular) electric cars. This means that they are perceived as a true “first mover” in the eyes of customers. Led by CEO von Krogh, Move About operates a fleet of 600 cars and around 200 electric bicycles available for rent in Norway and Sweden. The company has a location model instead of a free flow model, and 80 per cent of its customers are corporates, including ABB, DNV, DNB, Microsoft, and Chalmers University of Technology, in addition to leading property developers and energy companies. Honing such capabilities, Move About has recently secured additional funding to continue pushing the market of shared EVs and truly sustainable transportation. The company's technology platform is constantly evolving to support and take advantage of new technologies. Based on its long operational experience, Move About is preparing for a not-to-far future where the cars are automatically relocating overnight, passing by the car wash. Meanwhile, they deepen cooperation with public transport authorities and leading operators to integrate shared EVs with other public transport services—Mobility-as-a-Service. Finally, the fleet of shared EVs managed by Move About through its platform is becoming more interesting for energy companies as the fleet grows. "We will intensify our engagement within the vehicle-to-grid (v2G) to further minimise the footprint of transportation and reduce the cost of transportation for our customers,” informs von Krogh. “The company is now preparing to expand its European footprint and we foresee that internationalisation will be done with established actors within the mobility and/or energy sectors.”
